African Virtual Campus University was founded in 2017; however, the university officially opened in December 2024, and began offering classes in January 2025.

AVCU has a vision “To Inspire” a generation of learners to imagine how far their knowledge and skills can take them. The University emphasizes student maturity, and encourages students to take responsibility for their learning.

AVC University is accredited by the International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education.

AVCU has the expertise and focus for graduate education in information security disciplines. The University is also known for its flexible online learning paradigm and hybrid teaching and learning mode.

Yes. The foundation for AVCU is built on flexible learning, at any time, from anywhere. On campus learning is an option in selected areas for students who need it.

Yes. However, the University’s campus is a Support Center for walk-in registration, and for students who might require computers, internet, electricity, or other learning support services.

As of December 2024, AVC University offers a master’s degree in Cyber Security, Digital Forensics, Forensic Accounting, and Information Security. Additional related programs are under development.

Yes. AVCU offers an online graduate admission exam which is required for admission. However, the admission exam is not required for transferred students.

The online graduate admission exam fee is USD 150.

The graduate admission exam is offered online at any time, as scheduled by the student:

No. All applications for admission must be made in the University’s student information system. Students must first create a free BOIMA-SIS account to use the system.

Yes. The University’s application fee is USD 50

The minimum required undergraduate GPA for enrollment is 2.5

Yes. Students who are denied admission may appeal the University’s admission decision by sending a Letter to the Dean of Admissions at: admissions@avc.edu.lr

No. Use of the open computer Lab is free for registered students. However, the open lab has a schedule.

The Tuition per credit hour is USD 125

At the moment, all payments must be made at the designated Bank in person, or by wire transfer. Payment receipt must be uploaded to the student’s account in the university student information system.

As an online university, instructors are recruited from and are based around the world.

Yes. The University has Academic Mentors, Faculty Advisors, and Thesis Advisors. Each student is assigned an advisor during or after registration. The roles of each advisor are listed on the website.

No. Students can choose to write a thesis or take a comprehensive examination.

Yes. The requirements for transfer to AVCU are noted on the university website.

The University is an online institution; therefore, students have the option to visit their online classrooms any day at any time. However, live sessions for courses are scheduled for Mondays through Fridays.

Yes. The University offers financial aids and scholarships. Please visit the website for details.

No. The University has an Online Library that is available to registered students through their course modules.

Yes. The University accepts students from all academic backgrounds.

An entrance exam PASSED Score is valid for a period of three (3) years. However, students who registered and dropped from the institution for a period of one year are required to re-apply for admission.

Yes. Like any online university, AVCU accepts students from around the world.
