African Virtual Campus University has made the ambitious decision to switch to Tuition-Free for all individuals enrolled at the University. This policy shall become effective in September 2025. AVCU takes pride in making high quality higher education more affordable, and the University is committed to maintaining a balance between academic excellence and financial sustainability. With the understanding that tuition and other fees are the core revenue streams at the University, the decision to switch to a tuition-free system did not come lightly. However, this policy is based on our commitment to making education more accessible for all, regardless of merit or need. This policy may affect the number of courses offered each term.
Our aspiration to make university education affordable is simple. We want every student who desires to pursue graduate education with us in the disciplines that we offer to be able to thrive regardless of their financial resources or socioeconomic status. This is why AVC University is committed to offering tuition-free master’s degree online programs, owing to the support and donations of our partners, individuals, organizations, and corporations.
At AVC University, tuition-free online education means students may study without being charged tuition fees, which is the amount students pay per credit hour, per course. However, tuition-free does not mean a zero-cost education. Students will incur some minimum costs, such as application, graduation, and other fees. These fees are vital for the University to continue its operations, and therefore shall still be required. Students may seek external scholarships to help defray these fees.
